About Mergers and Acquisitions
In recent years, significant consolidation has taken place in the Master Data Management market. Larger vendors such as IBM acquired smaller vendors (Ascential, Trigo, DWL and Exeros) in order to be in a position to offer a more comprehensive MDM solution. Other vendors have acquired smaller companies with an established position in the MDM market to enable them to accelerate their entry into this developing market. Early examples of this were Oracle acquiring Silver Creek Systems, Informatica acquiring Siperian and Initiate Systems being acquired by IBM. Subsequently, Tibco acquired Netrics and Experian QAS acquired Intelligent Search, and TIBCO later Orchestra Networks. Additionally, Software AG acquired Data Foundations.
In early 2011 Hewlett Packard acquired Vertica, Teradata acquired Aster Data, and GXS also acquired RollStream. In 2012 GB Group acquired Capscan and also Informatica acquired Heiler. Finally, towards the end of the year Human Inference was acquired by the Neopost group. SAP acquired Heiler in 2012.
In June 2013 SAP acquired hybris the Swiss e-commerce specialist. In 2014 Trillium bought X88 and Magnitude Software acquired Kalido. In 2017 Agility Multichannel was acquired by Magnitude Software and in late 2018 TIBCO acquired Orchestra Networks.
2019 saw the acquisition by Syncsort of Pitney Bowes Software Solutions. In 2021 insightsoftware acquired Magnitude, which had previously acquired Kalido. Syndigo acquired Riversand in 2021.
In 2025, Salesforce acquired Informatica.
