During the past four years significant consolidation has taken place in the Master Data Management market. Larger vendors such as IBM have acquired smaller vendors (Ascential, Trigo, DWL and recently Exeros) in order to be in a position to offer a more comprehensive MDM solution. Other vendors have acquired smaller companies with an established position in the CDI, PIM or MDM market to enable them to accelerate their entry into this developing market. Early in 2010 Oracle acquired Silver Creek Systems, Informatica acquired Siperian and Initiate Systems was acquired by IBM.
